The short, efficient answer to who is Kathryn McClatchy:

AUTHORPRENEUR: writer, speaker, social media consultant, coach, advocate… encouraging, educating, engaging, enlightening, and entertaining those starting out, starting over, or leveling up.

The longer, more detailed and interesting answer:

Children are often asked what they want to be when they grow up. Depending on my age, I responded a doctor, a teacher, a lawyer, or a business woman. My secret dream that I hid deep within me, however, was to be like the rich gentlemen in Victorian novels who spent their days reading and studying whatever they wanted, writing books, and discussing and debating new ideas.

I never shared that dream because it wasn’t realistic. I needed to pursue a career and have a family. My past now includes careers in newspaper, advertising and market research, water fitness and coaching competitive swim teams, and teaching high school and college English. My present includes a wonderful husband, two sons and their wives, a service dog, and learning to excel in my “new normal” as a stroke survivor.

Being a stroke survivor changed my life plan, since I can no longer pursue my teaching career or dreams of a PhD. After stroke rehabilitation, I had to figure out what my future holds. Then that secret dream peeked out of its hiding place deep within me. I realized that I will never be a wealthy, landed, Victorian gentleman, but now there is nothing to stop me from spending as much time as I can reading and studying whatever I want, writing whatever I want, and discussing and debating new ideas.

So after four major career changes–with the support and encouragement of my family, friends, and service dog Gizmo–I am Unleashing the Next Chapter, combining decades of experience in multiple industries. UtNC is a five-part growing brand providing: Writing, Speaking, Social Media/Marketing Consulting, Professional Coaching, and Advocacy. I serve writers, creative entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits.

Most importantly to me, I love teaching Bible. God has worked through my life’s circumstances and health, and saved and restored me for a purpose. Over the last forty years I have been studying and teaching about the 400+ women of the Bible. There is so much inspiration and application for 21st-century women! If my skills, passions, experiences, or stories would be an asset to your conference or retreat, I would be happy to discuss the possibilities
